OUR SCHOOL VISION
‘Working together to build a firm foundation for learning and caring’
Rooted in Matthew 7 24 – 25 ‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.'
CHRISTIAN VALUES
Our Christian values are at the heart of everything we do. They shape who we are as a school family, guiding the way we learn, play, and care for one another. Together with our community, we carefully chose six core values that reflect what matters most to us. Each one carries a clear purpose and meaning, helping us all—children and adults alike—understand how we can live them out in our daily lives.
Every term, we place a special focus on one of these values, weaving it into our class activities and whole school collective worship. In this way, our values are not just words on a page, but a living part of our school culture—nurturing kindness, respect, and a strong sense of belonging for everyone.
At the start of each term, we come together to remind ourselves that we are one family, God’s family - celebrating this through the value of Koinonia (community and fellowship). To mark this, we have a special tradition: when someone joins or leaves St John’s, they add or take a pebble from our Koinonia dish. This simple act is a reminder that once you are part of St John’s, you will always have a place in our school family.
Matthew 22:38 Love your neighbour as yourself.

The first Christian value of the school year explores the theme of love.
We began by looking at the poem ‘Footprints In the Sand’ and children created their own footprint designs for a display representing God’s love through the ups and downs of life.
The children then went on to consider how we can show our love to people in our community and have written postcards to be passed on to care watch and delivered to individuals in our community.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

Proverbs 2: 6 King Soloman said ‘ For the Lord gives Wisdom from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.’

The children begin the term by exploring the difference between being wise and being clever, we discuss examples of how people can have all of the facts but it is how they use these in their lives which makes them wise. As the term progresses we look at proverbs or wise sayings and what these mean in our lives today. Below are some examples of the work completed for home learning and in class during collective worship.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
