Why the Odd Socks at St. John’s?

Pupils and staff at St. John’s Primary School wore mismatched socks and brightly-coloured socks or tights on Monday (22nd March) in support of World Down Syndrome Day.

So, why the odd socks?

A chromosome looks a little like a sock and people with Down’s syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome.

The school has supported this global awareness event for a number of years as it highlights the amazing differences between all of our school family.
